“The pornographic allure of looking at things organised neatly.” – NewStatesman

I found an article online on the NewStatesman that discusses the new obsession people have with being neat and organised. I completely understand and relate to this feeling – my whole life so far has been an organised mess!

The article particularly focuses on a book written by Todd McLellen entitled ‘Things Come Apart’. After researching and looking at the book itself, I have noticed that the word ‘neat’ is never used. I find this completely fascinating as technically, that’s what the whole book is about. Things someone has taken apart down to the last screw and then positioned, categorised and photographed neatly. The book cover offers a great insight into what to expect from the content and it’s fascinating how the artist has used things from as little as pens to full blown aeroplane jets.
